Arizona Department Of Water Resources Policy & Notice Of Non-Discrimination 

 

The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any program, activity or service that it provides on the basis of race, color, national origin, or religion or religious belief, a refusal to hold a religious belief, or a refusal to attend or participate in a religious practice, or have the effect of defeating or substantially impairing accomplishment of the objectives of the program because of race, color, national origin, or religion or religious belief, a refusal to hold a religious belief, or a refusal to attend or participate in a religious practice consistent with and under the legal authority of U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulation 6 C.F.R. Part 19.
ADWR complies with Federal civil rights laws and is committed to providing its programs and services without discrimination.

ADWR is required to administer its program and activities without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability or limited English proficiency.

TITLE VI: Non-Discrimination Program

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the main legal authority for ADWR's external non-discrimination programs. Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance. Once an organization accepts federal funds, all of its programs and activities are covered, regardless of their funding source.

What Does This Mean?

ADWR cannot, on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, age, disability or income status either directly or through contractual means:

  • Deny program services, aids or benefits.
  • Provide a different service, aid or benefit, or provide them in a manner different from what is provided to others.
  • Segregate or separately treat individuals in any matter related to the receipt of any service, aid or benefit.

ADWR will not tolerate intimidation, threats, coercion, or discrimination against any individual or group for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege guaranteed under law or regulations, or because the individual has filed a complaint or has testified, assisted, or participated in any way in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing or has opposed any ADWR action or decision.

ADWR will determine what steps are reasonable to ensure access for LEP and disabled persons and will be able to accommodate the needs of other LEP (non-Spanish speaking) persons through specialty contracts for translation services available through the Arizona Department of Administration. Requests for language interpretation services or for disability accommodations must be made at least 48 hours in advance by contacting: The Arizona Departemtnt of Water Resources, Human Resources Office at 602-771-8500.

How To File A Civil Rights Complaint 

You may file a civil rights complaint with ADWR if you feel that the agency has failed to provide these services or discriminated against you unlawfully. Refer to How to File a Complaint Process
