 Status of Colorado River Negotiations

Currently, the Department is at work developing several approaches to protecting and preserving Arizona's share of the Colorado River, including negotiations with all seven basin states over river management issues. Click here to see the letter all seven basin states recently sent (August 25, 2005) Secretary of Interior Gale Norton as their comments on the framework for scoping the issues.

On February 3, 2006, all seven Colorado River Basin States signed a letter to Secretary of Interior Gale Norton proposing certain shortage guidelines and coordinated management strategies to be included within the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement for the Department of Interior's proposed Colorado River Reservoir Operations. Click the following links to read the signed letter to Secretary Norton , the Basin States Final Draft Agreement , and the Seven Basin States' Proposal .
