Arizona Water Settlements

Southern Arizona Water Settlement Act

The Arizona Water Settlements Act finalizes the Southern Arizona Water Settlements Act, which was first reached in 1982. In that settlement, the Tohono O'odham Tribe agreed to an annual water budget of 76.000 acre-feet.

The SAWRSA amendments also encompasses the San Xavier Groundwater Protection Plan, the Mission Mine tribal recharge authorization, and provisions for the Tribe to lease water to certain customers.
