Community Water System Requirements

ADWR is soliciting feedback on the latest Draft System Water Plan Guidance Document (79KB). The guidance document is intended to assist Community Water Systems with developing System Water Plans, which must include a Water Supply Plan, a Drought Preparedness Plan, and a Water Conservation Plan.

ADWR appreciates the comments submitted after the Dec. 14, 2005 draft guidance and has incorporated many of them into the current draft. The most significant change is the addition of a Small Community System Water Plan Form.

Please provide comments no later than May 19, 2006. The Department will consider them for inclusion in the final guidance. Comments should be directed via to Melanie Ford or by regular mail to:

Rural Water Resources Study This report presents the results of a questionnaire distributed in March 2003 to almost 600 water providers, municipalities, tribes, and counties in rural Arizona. The contents of the report include response from local water agencies regarding sources of water, water use, conservation programs, drought impacts and water resources problems or issues.

Low Water Use Drought Tolerant Plant Lists
The Low Water Use/Drought Tolerant Plant Lists are used by the Department of Water Resources as a regulatory document in all Active Management Areas in both the Municipal and Industrial Conservation Programs of the Third Management Plan. Each Active Management Area has an independent advisory group of plant experts that review all plants submitted for addition or deletion to their individual AMA plant lists. To add or delete plants from any AMA plant list requires a separate application and approval process for each AMA. Forms are available by contacting the AMA.
