Floodplain Management Ordinances
Each community that participates in the NFIP has adopted a Floodplain Management Ordinance that meets or exceeds the minimum Program requirements. This ordinance, which is legally enforceable and enforced uniformly throughout the community, describes specific regulations for land use and development within Special Flood Hazard Areas.
FEMA and the State have developed model floodplain management ordinances that communities can use and that meet federal and state minimum requirements.
